Iowa Law Bookstore Hours

If you encounter any other questions, concerns, or errors, please email reg-maui-support@uiowa.edu The primary source for all textbooks and resource listings is the Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore. Duplicate orders can be placed at local bookstores (for example, Iowa Book or Prairie Lights). However, these manuals and resources do not appear in MAUI or MyUI. Instead, use the curriculum to provide the information. Orders placed only in local bookstores do not comply with the HEOA. To arrange an appointment outside the hours indicated, please contact the EJF bookstore in law-ejf@uiowa.edu to make an appointment. When ordering textbooks, please inform the bookstore if the textbook is required, recommended or optional for student purchase. These “purchase options” are provided to give students a better explanation of what is really needed for the course. All manuals are listed as mandatory by default unless otherwise specified by the ministry. If you or your department administrator placed an order for a textbook or resource from the bookstore for these courses and believe that the message was sent in error, please contact the bookstore. All textbooks and resources must be ordered from the Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore, ICON Direct, or ISBA Law Library. If you would like to have books in more than one local bookstore, please contact each company individually to place orders.

Files from local libraries will continue to be downloaded if available. Orders placed in other libraries will not appear on MAUI / MyUI and must be indicated in the program. Do you need manuals, inserts or memory cards? Discover the extensive collection of donated materials at the EJF Bookstore (across from the Boyd Law Building at 315 Melrose). Cash/cheque only. First, check out the Manuals & Resources panel in MAUI. If the manuals are listed, make sure the Show on MyUI field is set to View. If not, make the necessary updates. The Office of the Provost encourages professors to place their textbook order by registering early with ICON Direct, the Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore, or the ISBA Law Library following an electronic data upload process. When the department representative places an order with the selected location, a data feed with the required details of the manual, including the ISBN, is sent directly to the MAUI offer planner. Once the data feed is returned to MAUI, a service representative can choose whether the manual is mandatory, recommended, or optional. The Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore uses Follett Discover, a system that allows department administrators and faculty to order textbooks/resources online. All manual lines are displayed in MAUI/MyUI.

Administrators can specify whether items are required, recommended, or optional. ICON Direct is the University of Iowa`s initiative to order required digital content from select publishers and provide that content to students and faculty through its ICON course pages at special discounted rates. Visit our ICON Direct page for more details and information on how to place orders via ICON Direct. The Iowa Hawk Shop is the official clothing retailer of the University of Iowa Alumni Association. The Hawk Shop often works with student organizations, which fosters success, engagement and leadership development. Sherry Sinnott, Course Materials Manager, Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore Some departments use administrative staff to collect and place orders for manuals for instructors. Others ask instructors to place their own orders. These decisions will continue to be made by the Department and will not be affected by improvements to manuals and resources in MAUI/MyUI. Following an electronic data upload process, we recommend that you or your department administrator work with the Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore, Iowa Book, Prairie Lights, or ISBA Law Bookstore to place orders. The Equal Justice Foundation (“EJF”) is a student organization of the University of Iowa School of Law.

About 200 Iowa law students are active in the EJF to some extent. The EFJ provides financial support to students who opt for unpaid or low-paid summer internships in the public interest and public service. If textbooks are not required for a course or section of a course, a department administrator should take steps to indicate in MAUI that there are no required textbooks. Instructors do not have access to these changes in MAUI. If there is a mitigating circumstance that prevents the entry of textbooks, a mitigating circumstance must be indicated. In either case, the “no textbook required” and “extenuating circumstances” selections can be copied to all sections of a course if desired. The Iowa Hawk Shop is the University of Iowa`s official source for clothing, textbooks, technology and computers, accessories, greeting cards and more. Preferred: With Follett Discover, courses listed with “No Materials to Adopt” will be updated in MAUI to show “No Textbook Required” and the course section will be HEOA compliant. Open educational resources (OER) are free teaching, learning and research resources, equipped with access barriers and also having legal permission for open use. Typically, this permission is granted using an open license (e.g., Creative Commons licenses). The Higher Education Opportunities Act (HEOA) requires that book titles, ISBN numbers, and prices of books and other materials required and recommended for each course be included in the institution`s electronic curriculum in time for student enrollment. All orders for textbooks and resources must be completed at MAUI by early registration, but no later than four weeks before the start of the semester in which the textbook is to be used by students. If orders for manuals or resources cannot be placed at that time, departmental representatives now have the opportunity to indicate their extenuating circumstances in MAUI. These options include: instructor not assigned, courses in development, or material not available.

Textbook information is only required for conferences and stand-alone sections. Textbook information is not required for related sections such as lab, discussion, lab/discussion, and independent study. Bookstore contact information for textbook and resource orders Building Tradition and Supporting Academic Excellence The Registrar`s office sends regular reminder emails at each textbook or resource session. Emails sent to administrators and instructors are similar, but not identical. The “Other Resources/Additional Information” field is primarily used to enter details on course packages, equipment and other items not related to textbooks. Please place your order at the Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore. The details of the book, including the ISBN, will populate MAUI/MyUI via data exchange. The Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore offers a cost comparison on its website so students can determine where they want to buy their books. Ordering from the Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore also caters to the needs of veteran students and students who use financial aid to purchase textbooks. If the instructor/department does not have a preference for the library listed, we recommend the following: Otherwise, administrators enter “No textbook required” in MAUI Offerings Planner for course sections that do not require textbooks.
